✨ SPACED OUT ✨ Yesterday we wrapped up the se ✨ SPACED OUT ✨ Yesterday we wrapped up the second challenge in Emerge. This challenge was all about using negative space to enhance the story of your image. Balancing the appropriate amount of negative space without taking away from the the subject proved to be pretty difficult this round! This was our puppy’s first time going to the beach and he absolutely loved digging massive holes in the sand! ☀️🌊 #unleashededucation #unleashedchallenges #emergechallenge #borderpap
✨ FRAMED ✨ And just like that the first chall ✨ FRAMED ✨ And just like that the first challenge in Emerge is already over! To kick things off our challenge was to create an image using the compositional technique of framing to bring attention to your subject. Hello! 👋🏼 It has been quite busy over here Hello! 👋🏼 It has been quite busy over here but we are officially two weeks away from the start of Emerge, the intermediate challenge based course offered through @unleashed.ed and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m feeling a little rusty (it’s been about 5 months since I’ve taken any photos, oops) so the other day was the perfect opportunity to dust off the camera and take some shots of the newest member of our family. This is LEGO and he is a 10 week old border collie x papillon! He has been a lot of fun and we love him already. He is a related to our male border collie Nitro who you may remember seeing in a few of my Embark submissions! 💚 #unleashededucation #unleashedchallenges #emergechallenge #dogphotography
This cold brisk air has me thinking of those warm This cold brisk air has me thinking of those warm summer nights! 🥶❄️ This photo here was one of my potential submissions for the Up Ups challenge in @unleashed.ed’s Embark. I absolutely loved the sunset in the background and the hues of orange and pink but found the building and cars to be too distracting for my final submission. I think it is still worth showing off to the world though. ☺️ #unleashededucation #embarkchallenge #dogphotography
Wow, I was not expecting to see this when I woke u Wow, I was not expecting to see this when I woke up this morning! 🤩 I decided to take the opportunity to submit an image to this year’s IPPA (@internationalpetphotoawards) - being a premium member of Unleashed Education (@unleashed.ed) I was granted one free entry. Unsure of how photography awards work I submitted one of my images that I took for this year’s Embark into the Action category. To my surprise, it was awarded Silver Distinction! This year was a record amount of submissions into the IPPA. With a total of 3,621 entries, 2,742 of them were awarded. Out of those 2,742 entries there were 25 Gold and only 129 Silver Distinction. What an honor!
Yesterday was the conclusion of @unleashed.ed’s Yesterday was the conclusion of @unleashed.ed’s Embark 2024. What a wild ride the last 6 months have been! I was very hesitant on signing up for Embark because I was not sure how I would handle the feedback that everyone always talked about. They don’t call Charlotte and Craig “eagle eyes” for nothing! By the middle of the course I had a shift in mindset when it came to receiving feedback. I was no longer afraid of “being wrong” in my work, in fact I looked forward to my bi-weekly Tuesday nights! I would sit down after my toddler was in bed for the night and just soak in the vast amount of knowledge these two have given through video for every. single. image. I wouldn’t crawl into bed until 1:30 in the morning sometimes because I couldn’t stop watching and learning! This entire experience was both amazing and more difficult than I had imagined. Trying to balance getting submissions in on time on top of working a full time job and being a toddler mom was tough. There were many times where a certain challenge required multiple attempts and many Saturday nights were spent trying to perfect an image before the midnight deadline arrived. I enjoyed watching my peers succeed and improve with each submission. I loved the Facebook community that was built where we could all bounce suggestions off of each other to really make sure our images were the best they could be. I am so honored that not only was one of my images selected as the overall winner for that particular challenge, but my portfolio was marked as Highly Commended out of an astounding 71 completed portfolios - a new record in Embark. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall placements had absolutely stunning portfolios and they deserve that recognition! The placements I received for each individual challenge were just the icing on the cake compared to everything else that I experienced in the last 6 months. With that said, I am SO excited to have a break where I can sit down, relax and enjoy the holidays. At the same time, I can’t wait to get started on Emerge, the second course in the Unleashed Challenges! #embarkchallenge #unleashededucation #unleashedchallenges
And just like that, yesterday wrapped up the twelf And just like that, yesterday wrapped up the twelfth and final challenge in @unleashed.ed’s Embark course - Party Time! This challenge focused on capturing our canine subjects at play, whether solo or with friends. I decided to up the ante by featuring not one, not two, but THREE dogs in my final photo! I wanted to end my Embark journey with an image that celebrated the three loyal models who have been by my side over the last six months. And what better way to mark the occasion than with a game of Keepy Uppy? #unleashededucation #unleashedchallenges #embarkchallenge

This challenge had one goal; incorporating water into your image. My belgian malinois Nightmare loves to swim no matter the weather so she was very happy to assist with this challenge on a nice fall day! #unleashededucation #unleashedchallenges #embarkchallenge

This challenge focused on the art of backlighting. 🌄 When your light source is positioned behind your subject, it creates a stunning, warm rim of light that outlines and separates them from the background like you see here on my trusty model Widget. 🥰#unleashededucation #unleashedchallenges #embarkchallenge
